OLLIE STEPS ONTO THE SMALL SCREEN

On September 1st Ollie the Otter began filming for his first Public Service Announcement to be distributed to every television station statewide. The filming is taking place at Algood Elementary School in Algood, TN. Ollie will be joined by children from the school, Colonel Walker from the Tennessee State Highway Patrol, and Tenny C Bear.

The PSA has the children telling Ollie how much they know about booster seats. When Colonel Walker asks how they know all of this valuable information, the children tell them that Ollie the Otter taught them all about the Tennessee booster seat law!

This PSA is another great way to reach children and parents about the importance of booster seat and seatbelt safety. Ollie teaches children about the Tennessee State Booster Seat Law- which says that you need to be in a booster seat until you reach the height of 4’9” or the age of nine years old. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has also been very helpful in spreading the message of “Belts to Bones” which teaches children that their seatbelt should hit their collarbone, sternum, and hip bone. The booster seat lifts children up so the seatbelt hits them in the right place.

The Ollie Otter Program teaches booster seat and seat belt education in elementary schools. The program provides classroom materials statewide. To contribute to the program click here for more information.
