OLLIE HABLA ESPANOL!

Ollie the Otter has teamed up with the nationally recognized program El Protector. The El Protector program seeks to improve communication with non-English speaking citizens. Officer Gilbert Ramirez and Officer Rafael Fernandez of the Metro-Nashville police station make up the El Protector program. These officers continuously meet with leaders in the Hispanic community and discuss issues.

They have helped translate the Ollie Otter message into Spanish to benefit the Hispanic community. The officers met with other translators at Vanderbilt to discuss which translations would be most understandable. Since it has been translated, they are utilizing Ollie the Otter to teach the Hispanic community the importance of the Tennessee state booster seat law and buckling up every time. This has allowed the program to make astounding progress in reaching more children statewide.

This is one step leading to future developments in reaching more children and keeping them safe. The percentage of misuse of booster seats is extremely high, and this is just one more way that Ollie the Otter can team up with local and state law enforcement to keep children protected.

The Ollie Otter Program teaches booster seat and seat belt education in elementary schools. The program provides classroom materials statewide. To contribute to the program click here for more information.
